BPhEd Major Subjects

  • Exercise Prescription and Management
    This major focuses on physical activity and exercise as a means to enhance a person's life-long development and well being. Papers involve the design of exercise programme's tailored to the needs of a wide range of clients. Subject areas include: Sports Injuries, Exercise for Prevention and Rehabilitation, and Adapted Physical Activity.
  • Exercise and Sport Science
    Exercise and Sport Science takes a biological/physical approach to the study of human movement. Subject areas include: Biomechanics, Exercise Physiology and Motor Learning and Control.
  • Professional Studies
    The Professional Studies major emphasises professional practice in the teaching of physical education, outdoor education and dance. Learning opportunities prepare students for teaching, instructing and performance-related vocations. Subject areas include: Pedagogy, Outdoor Education, Adventure Education, Teaching Physical Education and/or Health in schools and Dance Education and Performance.
  • Sport and Leisure Studies
    The Sport and Leisure Studies major deals with the socio-psychological and socio-cultural aspects of sport, leisure and physical activity, examining their role, purpose and status in everyday life. Subject areas include: Sport Psychology, Sport Sociology, Sport Management, Sport History, Sport Coaching, Body Culture, Sport, Media and Culture, Exercise Psychology and Leisure Dimensions.
