Wall of Fame

Since its inception in 1948, graduates of the School of Physical Education at the University of Otago have excelled in sport, education, recreation, outdoor education, research, dance and business. We think those achievements deserve celebration and recognition with a permanent display gracing the School walls.

The Wall of Fame recognises and preserves the outstanding achievements of Otago Physical Education graduates, and their subsequent influence on our community and country. Those inducted onto this Wall have played major roles in their respective fields as performers, researchers, administrators, coaches, teachers and leaders.

Thousands of Physical Education students have passed through the hallways of this School. To be singled out as one of our best is truly an honour that will serve as an inspiration for generations to come.

64 Years of Physical Education at Otago2012 Wall of Fame Induction Ceremony

This year's graduation weekend in May will be another special one for Physical Education as we come together to celebrate the successes of our colleagues past and present. Six new names will be added to the School's Wall of Fame at a special ceremony held at the Hutton Theatre, Otago Museum on Friday May 4 at 6.00p.m.

The Wall of Fame is a permanent display that recognises outstanding School of Physical Education graduates who have achieved renown in sport, education, recreation, outdoor education, dance and business.

The 2012 Wall of Fame Induction Ceremony will be emceed by Bruce Hopkins (DipPhEd 1978). Bruce is an award winning Master of Ceremonies and has been acknowledged by many as the best in the business. He draws on a wealth of experience in the entertainment and media industries as a professional dancer, talk back host, Lord of the Rings actor, and comedy writer.
